\nPreparing for the Dys lexia Law: From Tier 1 through Interventions
\nBack b y popular demand\, this one-day training from John O&rsquo\;Connor will in clude an overview of: \; dyslexia\, the recently adopted state rule\, and how to provide effective reading instruction beginning with Tier 1 ins truction through tiered interventions. \; This is a repeat of last yea r&rsquo\;s Dyslexia Drive-Ins that John has repeated several times across the state. \; < strong>If you have participated in that training\, at any locations\, you do not need t o attend this day. \; If you have not\, you need to participate before you attend Day 2.
\nThis sessi on will include the characteristics of dyslexia including breaking widely held myths. \; In addition\, there will be a deep review of the 5 Doma ins of Reading and other elements of the Science of Reading. You will leav e this session with 24 Big Ideas to Meet the Needs of Students with Dy slexia.

\n(If you attended Day 1 at any time\, including Day 1 of this conference (February 1\, 2023 ) \, you will be prepared to participate in Day 2)
\nThis day is designed for team s from schools or districts who want to analyze their current practices an d develop strategic steps to improve Tier 1 reading instruction and to eve ntually build effective tiers of interventions for students with dyslexia. \; During this hands-on session\, teams will dig into these questions and determine possible next steps:
\n--Are el ementary students across the district or school consistently participating in high-quality instruction that is guided by the performance standards?< /span>
\n--Are the core instructional materials based on the Science of Reading -- those elements that research has indicated h ave the greatest chance of helping all students become proficient readers?
\n--Are elementary leaders deeply knowledgeab le about effective reading/ELA instruction?
\n
--Do elementary teachers have everything they need to provide high-quality
reading and ELA instruction including the necessary knowledge\, materials
\, training\, and support?
--Do current inte rvention practices have a high impact on student learning while minimizing unnecessary paperwork and meetings?
