Georgia State Standards require that students be ab le to perform higher order thinking skills fluently across all content are as. How can teachers structure instruction so that all learners have the s upport needed for these types of tasks? Students must be actively engaged throughout lessons that are built for complex thinking and responding by a ll learners.
\n\n
This professional development session will focus on effective teaching practices that engage all students in collabor ative academic conversations. Participants will learn multiple means of ga ining many answers from all learners while providing scaffolding\, particu larly for children who often do not participate. Particular emphasis will be given to strategies that help struggling students participate in conver sations that require higher order thinking skills and complex academic lan guage.
