Douglas Fisher is \; Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Teacher Educat ion at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High &\; Middle College. His focus is on improving \;students' lear ning and impacting professional learning \;communities. Doug Fisher ha s been the lead author on numerous books including The Distance Learni ng Playbook\, the Teacher Clarity Playbook\, Becoming an Assessment \; Capable Visible Learner\, Visible Learning for Literacy\, Teaching Literac y in the Visible Learning \;Classroom\, and many others. Recently \, Fisher and his colleagues released\, Rebound: Rebuilding Agency\, A ccelerating Learning Recovery\, and Rethinking Schools and Leading the Reb ound:20+ Must Dos to Restart Teaching the Learning to address the col lective traumas experienced during the pandemic and rebuild a sense of age ncy and \;self so teachers and students can link student success \ ;to their efforts. Dr. John Almaro de\, a bestselling author\, has worked with schools\, classrooms\, and tea chers all over the world. He has presented locally\, nationally\, and inte rnationally on the application of the science of learning to the classroom \, school\, and home environments. Recently\, John\, Douglas Fisher\, Nanc y Frey and other have \;developed a new framework for developing\, imp lementing\, and sustaining professional learning communities: PLC+\, a fra mework to build capacity within teacher-led teams to maximize student lear ning. Up next\, John and his colleagues are focusing on the process of imp lementation - taking evidence-based practices and moving them from intenti on to implementation - through a series of on-your-feet-guides around \;PLCs\, Visible Learning\, Visible Teaching\, and the SOLO Taxonomy. Due to commitments to our facilities/partners and the limit of in-person registrations\, all cancellations up to September 14 are subject to a canc ellation fee of $100.00. \; (cancellation fee will be waived if you ch oose to retain your 2021-2022 GACIS Membership) Cancellations after Septem ber 14 will be charged the full registration fee. No-shows at the conferen ce will be charged the full registration fee. All cancellations must be in writing. Please email dwhite@gael.org \;to cancel.

A contingency cancellation policy will go into effect if we are unable to host the 2021 Fall GACIS Conference safely\, according to CDC guidelines\, government ma ndates\, or similar reasons. NO CANCELLATION PENALTY will be assessed. A c redit for the conference portion will be applied\, and you will retain mem bership in GACIS. If you desire a refund\, GACIS will refund the conferenc e portion of the registration.
