  changes to the chapters on methodology and fire science for the 2021 edit
 ion of NFPA 921. These two chapters are foundational to the entire documen
 t.&nbsp\; Without a clear understanding of the scientific method and how t
 o apply it to and investigation\, the investigator is open to serious chal
 lenge in court.&nbsp\; Fire science is the foundation of fire effects\, fi
 re patterns and all other technical aspects of the investigation.&nbsp\; W
 ithout an understanding of the science underpinning the investigation and 
 analysis\, the investigation may be flawed at it base.</div>\n<div><br />\
