\nMarine Fire Investigation is a 3 1/2 d
ay class on investigating fires on marine vessels. Developed through a col
laboration between the IAAI and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC)
\, students receive training from IAAI facilitators\, industry leading mar
ine fire investigations\, marine surveyors\, engineers and special investi
gators. Topics will include the following: safety\, hot surface ignition\,
marine explosions\, electrical systems\, vessel terminology\, interviews\
, data collection\, scientific method\, methodology\, legal considerations
and evidence. Utilizing the team concept\, classes conclude with a hands-
on investigation of a Pre-burnt vessel\, generation of a preliminary repor
t\, and presentation of each team's findings to the class.

\nUpon completion of this class\, students will understand
marine vessel terminology\, concepts of how marine electrical and propuls
ion systems are configured and operate\, and safe and practical methods of
investigating marine fires.
