 g<span style="white-space: pre\;">	</span>08:00 &ndash\; 17:00</strong><br
/>\n<br />\n<br />\nWhile all fire investigators are familiar with NFPA 9
21 and NFPA 1033\, uncertainty about how best to apply them in the &ldquo\
;real world&rdquo\; to the investigator&rsquo\;s strategic advantage durin
g an origin and cause investigation persists in the fire investigation com
munity. Everything about a fire investigator -- the origin and cause repor
t\, and deposition/trial testimony -- should reflect a high working knowle
dge of 921 and 1033 and should demonstrate that the origin and cause inves
tigation was conducted in complete conformity with NFPA 921. This practica
l course will provide fire investigators with the necessary tools to navig
ate the various legal challenges to their expert qualifications and testim
ony\, including how to draft an origin and cause report in full compliance
with NFPA 921 and how to survive legal challenges to their expert qualifi
 cations and opinions under NFPA 1033.<br />\n<br />\n<br />\n<strong>Evide

es comprehensive instruction on identifying\, preserving\, and collecting
evidence at fire and arson scenes. Participants will gain knowledge of pro
per techniques\, tools\, and protocols that ensure evidence is collected s
ystematically and maintained in a manner that upholds its integrity and re
liability throughout the investigative process.<br />\nThrough a combinati
on of lectures and practical discussions\, students will explore common ty
pes of physical evidence encountered during fire investigations\, learn st
rategies to minimize contamination or loss\, and understand documentation
practices that support continuity and accuracy in casework. Emphasis is pl
