nto those exception situations focusing on decisioning items processed thr
ough the Federal Reserve. Often the question is\, should the exception be
handled as a return or an adjustment? How does timing factor into this dec
ision? We will review both the return process and adjustment process\, as
well as return reason codes and adjustment types. We'll also review Operat
ing Circular 3 which governs the details of the Federal Reserve Banks' han
dling of cash items and returned checks.
